Geared Air Motor
Air motors itself usually can be operated at high speeds, and can be controlled in a wide range, but the output data are not always suitable for all the applications. So in order to achieve the needed output performance, it is necessary to choose a gear unit with right ratio.
Air motor output performance is very much related to inlet pressure. Under constant inlet pressure, Stable air motors show a linear output torque/speed characteristic.
When selecting an air motor, the first step is to establish a "best performance point". This is a point described by the speed at which the air gear motor has required torque at that speed. Since it is most efficient to operate an air motor at speed at its maximum output, so you should choose the motor that produces the most power closest to the point.
Notice: DSV pneumatic gear motors do not self-lock, if your application needs a brake for safety reasons or special application, please contact us.
AUTO BRAKES
For applications requiring effective braking, a range of air driven automatic brakes is available.
This kind of brake consists of two springs connected to the hoop which pressed against a central hub. When air pressure enters the brake chamber, the brake hoop opens. The braking torque can be changed by adjusting the two spring regulators, but it is usually set to 4 bar (60 PSI) of air pressure to fully open the brake.
